L'imperfetto and how to use it !

Quando ero una bambina andavo sempre al mare, tu che facevi da bambino o bambina?

We use the "imperfetto" to

- describe something in the past

La mia casa era piccola ma aveva un bel giardino (my house was little but it had a nice garden)

- to talk about an abitual action in the past:

Da bambina correvo tutto il giorno

(When i was a kid i used to run all day long)

- to talk about an action in the past which occurred in the same moment of another past action:

Mentre mangiavo, bevevo una birra

(while i was eating, i was drinking a bear)
